What does Z stand for in grades?
The letter Z is used to indicate that a grade was not properly received and/or recorded for a course. Note: No grade points are allowed for grades F, I, NP, P, PR, NPR, W, or Z. A complete record of all previously used grades and grading systems is detailed on the official transcript. Grade.
Z grade on the college level means the class was attempted but not completed. The Z will not be calculated in to the student's college GPA nor does this effect the student's financial aid progress. But this attempt will count in the students 30 dual enrollment credit hours.
The "Z" grade is typically used for courses where work will not be completed within one semester's time, such as research, thesis, and dissertation. Once coursework is complete, your instructor will submit a grade change to assign an appropriate grade.
Withdrawal Unauthorized (WU)
For purposes of grade point average and progress point computation this symbol is equivalent to an “F.” The instructor must report the last known date of attendance by the student.

What does J mean in grades?
J indicates satisfactory and U unsatisfactory performance. When your final grade is submitted, it appears by itself in the term you completed the subject and in prior terms next to the J or U (example: J/A). S Transfer credit.
