What is the most common form of spiking?
How are people spiked? The most common way that people are spiked is by someone adding alcohol to their non-alcoholic drink, or extra alcohol to their alcoholic one, without their knowledge and/or consent.
To spike a drink means to put alcohol or drugs into someone's drink without their knowledge or permission. Drink spiking can occur anywhere drinks are served (such as at nightclubs, parties, pubs, restaurants and private homes). Drink spiking can be linked to crimes such as sexual assault and robbery.

A spike is a raceme except that the flowers are attached directly to the axis at the axil of each leaf rather than to a pedicel. An example of a spike is the cattail (Typha; Typhaceae).

Blood tests might be taken, as well as urine samples. Testing for substances isn't always possible, as they can quickly leave your system before testing can take place. Because it is difficult to know what has been used to spike you, medical professionals may not know what to test for and results can be inaccurate.
Around 50 percent of women and men surveyed have had their drinks or food spiked at least once. This is not a minor issue facing Americans. It is also not an act that always involves street drugs being discreetly slipped into a victim's drink.

With physical spiking, many victims like Hannah have reported pain, bruising and a visible 'puncture' mark at the sight of the injection, as well as feelings of lethargy and unconsciousness, though there is not yet enough research to provide official symptoms.
Often this is done by adding drugs or alcohol to someone's drink, but more recently reports have been made suggesting spiking by injection is a growing issue. Spiking by injection involves injecting drugs into another person without their knowledge or consent.
