Can you get e as a grade?
Some schools do hand out E letter grades instead of an F, but they are in the minority. A majority of schools in the United States, particularly beyond primary age, give grades of A, B, C, D, or F.
Passing Grade -The grades O, A, B, C, D, E are passing grades. A candidate acquiring any one of these grades in a course shall be declared as pass. And student shall earn the credits for a course only if the student gets passing grade in that course. F Grade -The grade F shall be treated as a failure grade.
E Exceeding the grade level expectations, working consistently and independently. This grade will be reported when a student demonstrates performance beyond expectations on a consistent and independent basis.
GCE Advanced Level - grades A*(a*), A(a), B(b), C(c), D(d), or E(e) indicate a pass at Advanced Level, grade A*(a*) being the highest and grade E(e) the lowest. GCE Advanced Subsidiary Level - grades a(a), b(b), c(c), d(d), or e(e) indicate the standard reached, grade a (a) being the highest and grade e (e) the lowest.
In the 1930s, as the letter-based grading system grew more and more popular, many schools began omitting E in fear that students and parents may misinterpret it as standing for “excellent.” Thus resulting in the A, B, C, D, and F grading system.
The opposite can be said for the lower end of the GCSE grading system. Previously failed GCSE grades came in at grades D, E, F and G, with U being 'Unclassified'. Now, failed GCSE grades come in at 3, 2 and 1, with U being the only constant in the GCSE grading system.
You'll usually need to receive a letter grade between A and D to pass a class, often the numerical equivalent of 65 percent or higher. Receiving an F—which stands for “fail”—indicates that you did not pass the class.
Academic grading in the United States commonly takes on the form of five, six or seven letter grades. Traditionally, the grades are A+, A, A−, B+, B, B−, C+, C, C−, D+, D, D− and F, with A+ being the highest and F being lowest.
A grade of C or better is required to earn a Passed; a C- or below will earn a Not Passed grade. A grade of C- may satisfy many requirements (e.g., General Education, elective) but a Not Passed grade will not earn any credit or satisfy requirements.

The grading scale with letter values is a descending scale where A is the best grade, E the lowest pass grade and F is fail.
What is a passing grade?
A passing grade grants students credit for an academic course. Students who do not earn a passing grade do not receive credit on their transcript for that class. Each college sets its own minimum passing grade. At some schools, a D-minus is the lowest passing grade.
You have passed if you get one of six grades, A*, A, B, C, D or E, – where A and A* is the highest grade and E is the lowest. A D and an E is a pass, but it will get fewer Ucas points. If a student does not pass, it will show on their results sheet as “Not Classified” or similar.
Yes, there are universities which will accept 3 Es and sometimes 2 Es. They tend to be the least famous ones, and not for subjects with the highest competition for places. Grade E is worth 16 points, so 3 Es are 48 points.
Research shows that about 1 percent of students grade-skip. Students can skip grades at any level, and they can even skip multiple grades. Grade-skipping has led to many concerns. In particular, concerns have been raised related to students' social adjustment and emotional health.
For the typical student, taking a course online rather than in person would decrease his or her likelihood of course persistence by 7 percentage points, and if the student continued to the end of the course, would lower his or her final grade by more than 0.3 points on a 4-point scale.
Research shows that many gifted students actually do better with older peers. A meta-analysis on grade-skipping by Karen Rogers, a professor of gifted education, reported grade-skipping had positive effects on social skills and maturity.
What is a Fail in GCSE? Anything below a 4 is a fail under the UK grading system, with U standing for 'ungraded', which was the same in the previous system.
4.5 – Relatively good (also known as the passive-aggressive grade – JK) 4 – Pass. 3.5 – Fail. 3 – Poor.
Students across England, Wales and Northern Ireland received their GCSEs on Thursday 25 August. In England, these are now graded using a numerical system from 9 to 1, rather than from A to E, as was previously the case.
There is no grade of A+. Earned by work that indicates a strong comprehension of the course material, a good command of the skills needed to work with the course materials, and the student's full engagement with the course requirements and activities.
Is D failing in college?
Many people wonder, “What is a passing grade in college?” Coming from high school, the grading system doesn't really change. In fact, a “D” is considered passing in both high school and college, as it's above 60%. While a passing grade may be as low as 60%, you will want to aim higher for many reasons.
A letter grade of a D is technically considered passing because it not a failure. A D is any percentage between 60-69%, whereas a failure occurs below 60%.
A 2.5 GPA, or Grade Point Average, is equivalent to a C+ letter grade on a 4.0 GPA scale. This means is equivalent to a 77-79%. The national average GPA is 3.0 which means a 2.5 is below average and has room to be improved.
Is 80 a failing grade? Grades below a “C” (80%) are considered a failing grade.
P (Pass): you've been awarded an overall pass numerical grade. F (Fail): you've been awarded an overall fail numerical grade.
At the bottom end of the scale, the lowest GPA you are allowed to graduate with is 1.0, which is equivalent to scoring 60-69% in the UK. In America, anything less than 60% is counted as a fail.
The normal grading range is from 55 to 100. The number grades correspond to letter grades as reflected in the chart below. The minimum passing grade is 70 (C). Any grades between 55 and 69 (D and F) are considered failing grades for which unit credit is not earned.

The academic performance of student is evaluated and graded at the end of each term in accordance with the prescribed grading system. The grading system is uniform using number grades in multiples of 0.25 from 1.0 to 5.0 where 1.0 is the highest and 3.0 as the lowest passing grade.
The 'F' grade denotes poor performance and indicates failing a course. A student has an option to take the course with F grade either in study mode or examination mode when offered next. A student with F grade is also eligible to take Make-up Examination (see rule for Make-up examination: point no. 13).
Is 50 percent an F?
A "B" is 70% to 79% A "C" is 60% to 69% A "D" is 50% to 59% An "F" is 49% and below.
The unweighted scale is most common, and the highest possible GPA on this scale is a 4.0. The unweighted scale doesn't take the difficulty of a student's classes into account. Weighted scales are also used at many high schools. Typically, they go up to a 5.0.
The fail grades were also divided into two types, one was where the student had failed to reach a level of pass that granted them an A-level but did grant them an O-level. The other fail meant that the student had not reached a pass level that warranted either an A-level grade or an O-level grade.
Officially, the Government states that to pass a GCSE exam, a grade 4 or above is required and to pass at A-Level, students must gain an E grade or above. However, a solid or 'high' pass is closer to a 5 or D/E borderline.
E (Failing Grade) Earned by work that is unsatisfactory and unworthy of course credit. This grade may also be assigned to students who do not submit required work in courses from which they have not officially withdrawn.
The failing grade will NOT calculate in your GPA, but it will still show on your transcript. On your transcript, an "E" will show to the right of your failing grade to mark the course as "Excluded". On your transcript, an "I" will show to the right of the second time you took the class, marking it as "Included".

Universities will consider slightly lower predicted grades for most degree programmes. This is because they know your predicted grades might not be an accurate reflection of your abilities and your final results could be higher. It's important not to be disheartened if your predicted grades are lower than you'd hoped.
70-74. Poor. 65-69. Fail (No credit) Below 65.
A "G" grade is given by an instructor when class work is unfinished because of extenuating personal circumstances. When given a "G" grade, you are usually instructed to complete some clearly defined work (e.g. a final examination paper) within a specified period of time.
